
Join CUHK to shape global public health at APRU Global Health Conference 2026

CUHK will proudly host the APRU Global Health Conference 2026.
A team from CUHK, including Prof. Martin Wong of the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care (SPHPC), participated in the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Global Health Conference 2025 hosted by the University of Malaya. During the event, CUHK was announced as the host of the APRU Global Health Conference 2026, the flagship annual gathering of the APRU Global Health Programme.
APRU: A strategic network for global impact
APRU is a leading alliance of over 60 premier research universities across the Pacific Rim, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships to address pressing global challenges. Its Global Health Programme drives regional dialogue and collaborative action to strengthen health systems and respond to the rapidly evolving public health landscape.
Since joining APRU in 2017, CUHK has played a pivotal role in advancing global health through research leadership, educational initiatives, and active student engagement. Prof. Martin Wong serves on the Programme’s Advisory Group, providing strategic guidance on its overall direction. In addition, Prof. Jason Huang and Prof. Claire Zhong co-chair the Programme’s Non-Communicable Diseases Working Group, contributing expertise to advance global efforts in tackling chronic health challenges.
Highlights from APRU Global Health Conference 2025

SPHPC leads a workshop on advancing equity in women’s cancer prevention at the conference.
At the Kuala Lumpur conference, Prof. Wong spoke on the cost-effectiveness of AI-assisted colonoscopy at a panel focusing on innovation and technology in urban health. Meanwhile, Prof. Huang and Prof. Zhong hosted a workshop on advancing equity in women’s cancer prevention across Asia Pacific, addressing challenges, knowledge gaps, and strategies to improve access to care.
CUHK’s commitment to nurturing future global health leaders was also recognised when Ning Long Chan, a CUHK medical student, won the Best Poster Award for his study on HIV, standing out from entries from 24 universities across 10 economies.

Themed ‘Resilience and Adaptation: Navigating the Evolving Landscape of Global Health in a Changing World’, the 2026 conference will take place during 7-9 December 2026 in vibrant Hong Kong. This three-day event will bring together global health leaders, researchers, and students from around the world to explore how global health systems can adapt and stay resilient amid rapid change. The programme will feature keynote sessions, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, fostering thought-provoking dialogue and collaborative action to promote sustainable health solutions across the region.
