CUHK-Sweden advance collaboration through teaching and strategic dialogue
CUHK was delighted to host a workshop in November 2025 in collaboration with the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT) for its Fellows currently teaching across Asia, including those at CUHK, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and the University of Tokyo.
Workshop highlights: Exploring AI in education
The workshop, themed ‘AI in Education’, featured presentations by Prof. Cecilia Chun, Director of the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research, and Prof. Thomas Chiu, Associate Director of the Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies. They showcased how CUHK integrates AI into its teaching and learning practices. The workshop also provided a valuable platform for participants to exchange insights on teaching pedagogies and share programme experiences.

STINT Teaching Sabbatical Programme at CUHK
CUHK has been the sole partner in Hong Kong for the STINT Teaching Sabbatical Programme since 2012. The programme brings Swedish scholars to teach and conduct research on CUHK campus, enabling students to experience Swedish teaching without travelling abroad.
This year’s STINT Fellow at CUHK is Prof. Lena Liepe of Linnaeus University’s Department of Music and Art, hosted by the Department of History during the first term. Prof. Liepe taught a course on the art and architecture of medieval Europe. She described the experience as highly rewarding, noting: ‘It has been particularly interesting to observe how students’ understanding of the Christian subject matter in medieval art relates to perspectives rooted in Chinese visual culture.’ Prof. Liepe is keen to pursue future collaboration in world art history with CUHK.

Strengthening ties through strategic dialogue
CUHK also proudly participated in the Hong Kong-Sweden University Vice-Chancellor Roundtable in October, hosted by the Croucher Foundation. The roundtable brought together leaders from CUHK, Lund University, Uppsala University, The University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to discuss global collaboration in teaching, research, and innovation. CUHK looks forward to deepening its collaboration with Swedish institutions and exploring new opportunities for academic exchange and research partnerships.
